The future of Amazon Rainforest, where our every fifth breath originates, hangs in the balance today. A loss of this magnitude looms large, stirring a search for causes, meaning, and change. The Amazon is that search. Second in the Trilogy of Rivers following The Colorado, The Amazon takes its viewers on an epic journey, weaving the present-day stories of two indigenous groups into the larger fabric of history.

Kitapsi, Nija, Añaantsi (Land, Water, Life) follows a number of Ashaninka communities on the Peruvian Andes as they pay tribute to their sacred sites. One of these sites is Kipaí, a remote tributary of the Amazon River. The film portrays the relationship of the Ashaninka People to land and water, against the backdrop of Peru’s large-scale hydropower plans. Directed by filmmaker Murat Eyuboglu, with Marcelo Fortaleza Flores, with music by composer Pauchi Sasaki. The Amazon is a co-production of National Sawdust and Senaya Filmes.
